The experience of colour.
Theoretical studies on the colour go back to the days of classical Greece, evolving up to the XXI century. Aristotle, Leonardo Da Vinci, Isaac Newton, Johann Goethe, John Ruskin, Josef Albers, John Gage. Philosophers, thinkers, physicians, scientists, sociologists, artists have approached the study of colour from different specialties, including new theories, concepts and experiments to date (while still a source of research and debate) have helped to develop the language of colour. Where does one colour end and another begin? Colour and shape. Colour and music. These are issues that have been raised and from which have come to interesting conclusions.
We know that colour is a physical phenomenon that is defined by light, wavelength and visual perception . Culturally, colour has played a key role in history in which each stage is expressed through colour, Art History allows us to identify what colours express what. As painting, the colour hasdeveloped from natural pigments to chemical mixtures. The main features of the appearance of colour are hue, saturation and brightness. The value and nuance are the qualities of colour and its combinations.
Beyond theory, sight is the sense that generates the perception and interpretation of colours in the brain. When light is abundant, the eye perceives a greater range of colours according to wavelengths. In the shade, colour turns into black and white.
Taking into account the studies that make us aware of how we perceive colour and how we interpret (as the contemporary language), we can let go by the sense of sight and enjoy the coloristic explosion reality offers us, an inexhaustible source of colours .
This series of photographs show colour in different contexts. Contrast, definition, combination, harmony, each image to suggest the viewer a concept, an emotion that can lead to an experience of colour.
